Postgraduate Course in Haute Couture and Bridal Gowns

The concept of Haute Couture such as it was understood by Yves Saint Laurent and other masters like Hubert de Givenchy, has varied as time goes by. The important companies in this area, as well as new designers, no longer make a lot of made –to-measure exclusive models for one client, in which a lot of time was used with a high budget to develop conceptual and very elaborated garments, paying great attention to detail and adjusting the retail price to the maximum. In this way, Prêt a Porter designers are keeping the Haute Couture spirit but with a more commercial philosophy, and gaining a wider market.

Women want more exclusive models from fashion firms, capable of making them stand out at a social event.

And if ever there were a social event in which a woman can feel special above everybody else, this is her wedding day. A lot of fashion firms are already beginning to include collections some nuptial designs in their seasonal collections.

These models require specific pattern knowledge since unusual forms and volumes are used which are different from those used in urban fashion.

For this reason, textile businesses require pattern making professionals, capable of correctly creating increasingly complex volumes and forms. Fashion changes every season and a pattern designer needs to constantly be making new prototypes.

The syllabus is structured in a practical module that includes pattern and prototype design and creation.
