Postgraduate in Styling in Audiovisual Media

Styling in audiovisual media is a professional activity that has been evolving to a certain extent in the film market and in commercial show productions. Also, small productions are those that allow creators to use their knowledge and acquire experience from practice.

This market is very demanding and requires a design professional who has globalized knowledge of the audio-visual world.

A stylist is the universe of the costumer, of the makeup artist and of the hairdresser, is the person who interprets the needs and demands of the director, the one who knows to read and decode the script.

A stylist has to know how to work in a team, help the actors and interact with the Arts Director, managers and producers. It is the person who communicates through his designs, fabrics and accessories and expresses him/herself through objects, forms and colours. The designs are at the service of an audiovisual or scenic creation, which will have to be optimized using all the resources available.

The building of a fictitious space needs varied subtle and sensitive considerations. This kind of building that gives rise to tragedies and comedies is, moreover, a meeting point between different periods in History and the current performance.

In this postgraduate course, a wide overview of the professional styling environment is given, with a special importance placed on cinema, television, theatre and music.

Aims

  • To do research into historical clothes in order to apply the time characteristics in the styling of a scene.
  • To analyze television characters, adjusting their wardrobe in accordance with their features and with stage or setting.
  • To know the philosophy of music, coordinating accessories and clothing.
  • To offer a wide vision of the professional styling environment in the audiovisual means, with special importance on cinema, television, theatre or music

Syllabus

The postgraduate course has 18 credits: 150 theoretical/training hours and 30 hours used for carrying out a research project.
