Pattern Making and Industrial Sizing for Men´s and Women´s Knitwear

This course has been designed for students who want an introduction to the fascinating world of pattern making, as well as to the professionals that are looking for new forms and views, or as complementary training for any professional working in fashion design.

The course provides complete training, both theoretical and practical in this specialised professional field. It has two modules:

Module 1. Knitwear, including both manual and computer assisted pattern making techniques, different manual and computer assisted sizing techniques and making a prototypes, including any necessary adjustments

Module 2. Knitting Machines. Study of knitting Machines and elaborating different stitching.

Our course materials are continuously updated by our specialized teachers on Industrial Pattern Making and Industrial Sizing as well as by professional experts in the fashion world. We edit industrial pattern making and sizing technical books, in which varied techniques on pattern making and sizing are clearly explained with plenty of graphics and illustrations.

Pattern Making and Sizing courses start each month from October to June, with a flexible evening schedule.

Objectives

Learn how to make base patterns for all types of men’s and women’s knitwear.
How to correctly industrialise base patterns and create the technical files.
Sizing
Analysis of different models and making adjustments base patterns to add volume and assuring the correct cut of the garment.
How to make prototypes, and test and adjust them on a mannequin.
Obtain a working knowledge of specific software for pattern making and sizing Lectra  PGS-INDUS-V8R2.
Learn about the most common knitting textile materials

Students will be able to request work experience placements in companies, while studying this course, depending on the student’s availability and agreement with the companies we regularly work with.
